HOLLYBANT QUEEN ISABELLA (b. 2006)

s. Skellorn Choirboy   d. Carrwood Elouise

This pretty filly is by the late great Choirboy, so tragically lost to the breed at a young age. Bella is going to make a good 12.2hh and has masses of bone, something hard to find these days in the B's.

Bella is currently on loan to pursue a career under saddle with a lovely family in Yorkshire. 4th Great Yorkshire M&M First Ridden.

HILIN HUFEN (b. 2008)

s. Eyarth Tayma d. Hilin Cadwen Arian

This pretty filly is a full sister to Hilin Telstar, a big winner for our friends at Colby Stud.

She was lightly shown by her previous owners, winning on every outing.

In 2010 she was 2nd at Devon County and highest filly.

Reserve Champion Welsh Pony Yealmpton

When reforming the stud I was unsure which direction to take, with regards to bloodlines. My friend, Robert Jones, suggested that I look at Millcroft Siesta, a daughter of his Millcroft Simone.  I followed his advice and she reminded me so much of my lovely Knighton Lucy Locket that I knew I had to buy her.  She was in foal to Soudley Taliesin (son of the great Eyarth Rio) eventually giving birth to a lovely colt, Roseview Raindance.

Having always been a great fan of the Paddock ponies I contacted Sandy Anderson, another big supporter of these lovely ponies and was lucky enough to acquire Thistledown Pretty Posh from him.  I also arranged for her to be covered by the Royal Welsh champion, Paddock Sahara. She foaled a beautiful colt March 08, Roseview Panache, who has been sold to France as a future stallion.

Another stallion I had previously much admired was Rudgate Royal Surprise so when the opportunity arose to buy a daughter of his I could not really resist and Kerrells Razzetta duly arrived at the stud in 2007.  As she did not arrive until late May she was not covered until 2008, by Milltop Rio Grande, son of the great Eyarth Rio. Despite having been scanned in foal, one never arrived.

A strange coincidence is the fact that Millcroft Siesta was previously owned by the Kerrells Stud. Siesta has now been sold so that we can concentrate on the palomino ponies.

As we currently have no young fillies in the stud we purchased Hollybant Queen Isabella  in 2008 whose sire made such a big mark on the breed before dying at a very young age.

HORSEGATE PIPIT (b. 1986)

s. Pendock Peregrine  d Twyford Arcadia

Horsegate Pipit was purchased unseen from an advert in H&H magazine. She was advertised as being up to height, although she is about 12.3hh and I knew that some friends, the Trevenna family, were looking for an up to height pony for their daughter Gemma to ride.

I phoned the advertisers but was told that Pipit had become unsuitable for riding, as she kept taking off with her rider. They knew little about Welsh ponies but explained that she looked "a little bit like that Welsh stallion who keeps being photographed in H&H". This was a reference to the great Mollegaards Spartacus and was enough of an incentive for me to buy her at once, having previously bred a foal by him.  Perhaps the similarity was due to the fact that Pipit is by the same sire as Twyford Signal, half brother to Spartacus.

Pipit was delivered to Matthew Lawrence, who was bringing her to a show for me to collect. When I got there Matthew told me that he could have sold her several times already so I quickly collected her from him before he did! Her showing career started soon afterwards at Devon County where she was 3rd and the judge, the late Hugh Edwards (Sarnau) asked if he could buy her.

I then found another pony for Gemma to ride, Seaholm Dusk, whose story is told elsewhere on this site.
